Tibet Buddhist Blessings

A Transmission of Virtue and Clarity

In Tibetan Buddhism, a blessing (byin rlabs) isn’t about something given to you by a higher power, but something that awakens you. It’s the influence of awakened mind touching your mind. Think of it as your awareness syncing up, however briefly, with the wisdom, compassion, or purity embodied by a Buddhist lama.

Why Blessings Are Given

  • To Strengthen Your Path: Blessings reinforce your connection to what matters, whether it’s the Three Jewels of Buddhism, our your own philosophical, spiritual, or religions path.Your intention and inner compass get sharper.

  • To Clear Obstructions or Fear: They’re often requested when someone, or somewhere (such as a home, a property, land, rivers…) feels stuck, confused, overwhelmed, or energetically blocked. A blessing can help untangle emotional or karmic heaviness, making room to breathe.

  • To Anchor New Directions: Monks or teachers often give blessings when an individual, a group, a community is:

    • entering a new phase

    • taking on responsibility

    • recovering from hardship

    • trying to heal something deep

    • seeking clarity in conflict or uncertainty

How to Participate

Blessings are offered to individuals, groups, and organizations. The monks will also bless you home, business, organization, community. Blessings are often used to help bring awareness to the need for healing the environment - rivers, lakes, oceans, mountains.

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
